You were my favorite poem
I would read you all the time
Every day and every night
Weeding out the hurt
Opening my heart
Knowing I might not ever understand all the words
But, that was okay, because the lines of you were the most beautiful I have ever heard
I never wanted more than to put you first
And, as long as you loved me, I knew things would work
Love like unconditional
Conquering and undismissible
Unkillable, unstoppable
The kind that needs no rest
Love more permanent than death
I knew you could love me like this
It was the kind of person you were
But things got bad, and then they got worse
Despite your shortcomings, I still love you for everything… you weren’t
